Meet the Woman Who Remembers Every Puppy

Mindy has always had a soft spot for animals. When she was younger, it was puppies. As life went on, cats found their way into her heart too. But no matter what season of life she was in, one thing never changed: she has always been the kind of person animals seem to find.

That was especially true in 2011, when MJ came into her life. MJ was more than just a dog — he was family, heart, comfort, and home all wrapped into one sweet little soul. A few years later, Payton came along so MJ could have a brother, and of course, that brought a whole new kind of energy to the house. Payton is equal parts goofy, dramatic, lovable, and convinced that everything happening both inside and outside the house absolutely requires his opinion. He may bark first and ask questions never, but underneath all that chaos, he is a total teddy bear.

After the heartbreaking loss of MJ, Gracie found her way into their lives. And Gracie made one thing very clear almost immediately: sometimes all you really need is one Golden Retriever to completely take over your heart, your home, and probably your personal space. Full of joy, energy, and nonstop love, Gracie brought light back into the house in a way only a dog can. She didn't replace MJ — nobody ever could — but she reminded everyone that love has a way of showing up again when you need it most.

That love for animals is a huge part of what led Mindy to Wags 2 Wishes Animal Rescue in Minooka, Illinois, where she has been volunteering for the past several months. She shows up to walk dogs, clean kennels, give baths, help with the daily work, and most importantly, make sure every dog feels seen, safe, and loved while waiting for a forever home. She doesn't do it for credit or attention. She does it because she believes these animals deserve kindness, patience, and a real chance.

Mindy may forget the names of people she met two days ago, but she will absolutely remember every puppy, every personality, every favorite toy, and which dog likes to be tucked in just right. That's just who she is. Her heart is with the animals, and anyone who knows her knows that loving them comes as naturally to her as breathing.

This fundraiser is an extension of that love. It's a way to help support the dogs she cares so deeply about and to make sure Wags 2 Wishes has what it needs to keep helping them until they find the families they've been waiting for.

And to make things even more fun, there's a little friendly competition involved. If Mindy is the one who reaches $1,000 in donations, she wins the chance to spend the night with select puppies at the rescue for a special overnight puppy sleepover. Basically, it's the dream prize: puppy cuddles, tail wags, late-night snuggles, and probably the cutest "sleepover" ever.
